20th April 2019:

Our stay was amazing from us arriving to departing everything was incredible. When we arrived our greeting was very warm and welcoming and so informative of things for us to see and do during our stay. Our stay itself was great the beds were so comfy and the little touches are what made it even more enjoyable, like the little bottles of fresh milk everyday and variety of tea and coffee and even hot chocolate in our room. The breakfast each morning was incredible everything was cooked to perfection, we enjoyed everything so much so that we hopefully plan on returning in the future.

Tips:

The nearby restaurants we definitely would recommend would be the gannet pub, becks fish and chip shop/restaurant and a Spanish restaurant called la casita. We also recommend that you go off and explore don't feel that you have to stay at the beach or only go into St there are so many places for you to see and explore that are only within a ten or twenty minutes drive trust me you won't be disappointed.

19th April 2019:

The owners made us feel most welcome in their B&B and provided many additional facilities over and above that expected...homemade foods etc. and had clearly thought about what customers want to make their stay special...

Tips:

Close enough to walk into St. Ives, whilst far away enough not to get caught up in traffic...the coastline from St Ives to Lands End is fantastic

Well thought out small b&b with None of the usual b&b nonesense. Well thought through from the eponymous bird logo to the flourish in the bacon and egg presentation. The hogs pudding was a tasty addition. Room at the top, up a singular stair, rewards with the good view over Carbis Bay . Parking on site and away from the madness of St Ives with a bus at door to whisk you in. Deborah and Paul were very helpful, informative and made our stay a pleasure

The best I have ever stayed in. The owners Paul and Debbie could not have done more for me. They have a massive knowledge of the area and ensure you see the best bits. The house itself is cosy and has fabulous views of Carbis Bay. The room was clean and every day fresh water, tea coffee was added to. There was also fruit available and a lovely touch fresh milk in a fridge a little thing but s nice touch. Breakfast is amazing cooked to order and nothing too much trouble.

Tips:

This is a must stay at Bes and Bteakfast. The tea is brilliant for visiting Cornwall. It’s position above Carbis Bay is a perfect beach for all. Not too busy and all the wenitoes you need. The immediate area makes it easy to walk to St Ives or take the train. Perfect place

28th July 2018:

After a very warm welcome by Paul we enjoyed the really nicely and modern done up room, where there was everything we needed. Paul gave us many tips for having dinner near by and was helpful with the reservation in the Beach Club Restaurant due to our problems with our mobile connection. We slept really well in the comfortable bed and than had an absolutely breakfast! Everything of the cereals and the fruit and toast/waffels was lovingly arranged and we were impressed of the presentation of the warm breakfast: Paul, as a former cook, made the best poached eggs I had during my whole 2 weeks in England (where we changed our location every day, so we had many possibilities of comparison with hotels and B&Bs)! The service by Deborah was wonderful and the whole Atmosphere they both bring in their B&B made us want to come back again! Thanks a lot for being such wonderful hosts!

Tips:

St Ives was really crowded due to it was Summer and holiday time. We had dinner in the carbis bay hotel beach restaurant, which was really good.

Paul and Deborah were fantastic hosts and their B&B is fantastic. Very welcoming, nice communal lounge and breakfast area for guests, really helpful with location recommendations and WONDERFUL breakfasts! Thank you both for such a wonderful stay, we really enjoyed St Ives and we are so glad we stayed at the Oystercatcher - it really made our honeymoon

Tips:

We went to some great restaurants in ST Ives (Peppers, The Loft and The Seafood Cafe) All were fan tastic for different reasons but would highly recommend them all. Deborah and Paul also recommended a great day out, driving the coastal road from St Ives to Sennan Bay and a short walk from there to Lands End. The scenery was beautiful and Sennan bay is a lovely little place.

For us the location was perfect as we like to walk. Very friendly service and attention. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was of ample size with a lovely comfy bed and really easy to use shower. Breakfast offered a varied menu of which the hot options were cooked to perfection. We will booking again for next year.

Tips:

There is an excellent bus service stopping close by. We ate at both the Gannett Inn and La Casita restaurant. Both good quality but the Mediterranean restaurant was our favourite. St Ives is about a 25 minute walk either by road or a bit longer on the coastal path.

We ate at The Halsetown Inn, which although a couple of miles out, was well worth it.

Best B&B I have every stayed at. The B&B hosts Debs and Paul were extremely welcoming. Breakfast was a big hit for me, lots of choice of continental items followed by a variety of cooked breakfast all cooked fresh to order. Choice of a full Cornish breakfast, French toast and maple syrup and smoky bacon and even smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toast. Delicious!

Paul & Deborah are the perfect hosts, and the 'pearl' of St Ives has to be the 'Oystercatcher.' Nothing was too much trouble for them and I cannot fault their establishment in any way. Every morning my wife and I looked out of our bedroom window to the stunning view of Carbis bay. This is without doubt the best holiday we have had in years.Thank-you Paul & Deborah for making our stay so enjoyable.

Tips:

Don't use your car, leave it parked up and make use of the excellent bus service. All the restaurants offer excellent meals at very reasonable prices, and I wouldn't really like to single out any for special mention. But Paul & Deborah are always on hand to offer advice on where to go. Make sure you visit St Michael's Mount, just a short distance from Penzance.

Deb and Paul were so helpful and giving us lots of advice and recommendations to get the most from our trip. The room was lovely, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and overall it was a very warm friendly atmosphere meaning we felt very relaxed and at home at the Oystercatcher! Would definitely stay here again!

Tips:

Visit LaCasita for dinner, very nice food and warm atmosphere. Parking and driving generally in St. Ives is difficult so recommend getting busses. St. Ives is not disabled friendly but that's no comment on Oystercatcher. Try and book a boat trip from St. Ives to Seal Island, but be prepared it could get cancelled if weather not good.

Paul and Deborah are excellent hosts. They are friendly and helpful and nothing is took much trouble. They also cook one of the best breakfasts I've had!

Tips:

There is plenty to see and do in the area. Two restaurants close to Oystercatcher are Becks and La Casita. The former does some of the best fish and chips around, whilst the latter offers excellent Spanish dishes including tapas. If you like art then St Ives abounds in art galleries though wouldn't recommend the Tate. St Michael's Mount is only a short distance away and is definitely worth visiting.

Oystercatcher, a gem in the jewel which is St Ives Bay. For the ( regrettably, only ) 3 days we were there everything about Oystercatcher was first class. We had the main bedroom which had a most amazing panoramic view of St Ives Bay. This room and the residents room on the ground floor were decorated and provisioned in a most excellent way. Breakfast was superb, with regard to the menu and the quality of the ingredients but added to that everything was cooked to order by Paul. This was as good a breakfast as we have experienced in any 4/5 star hotel !!! Congratulations to both Deborah and Paul for so recently setting up the Oystercatcher and establishing such a first-class business in so short a time. We are looking forward to our next trip to the St Ives area - we know where we intend to stay.

Tips:

If you're not already National Trust members consider joining as you could cover your annual membership ( plus!!) by visiting various sites near to St Ives. You must try Becks for a meal. A long established local restaurant, only 5 minutes walk from Oystercatcher, There are so many eating places in the area to suit all tastes and pockets !! Please keep Paul up to date with the quality of chips in the area - we think he's making a directory of this for future reference !!!! St Ives is only a 30 minute walk away. If you don't fancy the return ( slightly uphill ) walk , the bus service is good.

15th April 2017:

Excellent location to explore this part of Cornwall. On a main road, but not busy and and night is almost deserted. Very clean and tastefully decorated. Did not hear other guests in their rooms. Many nice touches, such as fresh milk available in individual bottles and not UHT. Great breakfasts, Paul was very accommodating for other guest breakfast requests. Paul and Deborah are very welcoming and knowledgeable of the local and wider area which they spoke of in an enthusiastic way. We lad the loft room which as described can be difficult for those with mobility issues due to the nature of the stairs.

Tips:

St Ives is a short drive away - we parked several times at one of the car parks in the lower part of town and near the Tate. Avoid the car park intended for day visitors at the top due the location at the top of a hill. Paul and Deborah have many good suggestions for local amenities.

For a round trip - try St Michael's Mount and head round clockwise to catch the tide. Plus this keeps the sun over the sea for stunning views.

We only stayed one night at the Oystercatcher but it was a perfect location for our stay. We had a lovely welcome, our room was super and spotlessly clean, modern decorations and tasteful art on the walls. The towels were gorgeous - large and fluffy. The breakfast was delicious, and it was really good to have fresh milk to make tea in the morning. Wholly recommend staying at this venue and we would certainly return. Thanks you.

My partner and I have just spent three days at this lovely bed-and-breakfast . Deborah Paul and baby Cleo are the perfect hosts very friendly and accommodating Paul is a mine of information about local areas good restaurants and things to do and see. What a lovely and very pleasant young couple . We had the double room with the garden view, very comfortable bed spotlessly clean lovely big shower and soft fluffy white towels could not fault it in any way. Breakfast was excellent full English and scrambled egg were amazing good quality food and very nicely presented. Would definitely recommend this bed-and-breakfast and will be going back again.

My boyfriend and I had such a nice stay at the Oystercatcher in Carbis Bay. Our room was very nicely decorated and cozy. Deb and Paul were very welcoming and could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable. They gave lots of hints and tips about the local area which we would not have known about otherwise. The breakfast was delicious and our stay itself was very good value for money. Will definitely be visiting again and recommending to everyone we know.

Tips:

We visited the Dolphin in Penzance for fish and chips which were really nice. We also had a lovely meal and La Casita in Carbis Bay and The Lifeboat inn for Sunday lunch. Next time I will spend longer at Porthcurno beach and visit Saint Michael's Mount.

Hi, I booked through Booking.com and said l would arrive by 7pm. due to "an incident" l arrived at just before 11pm. Paul greeted me as if l was 3 hours early !! You gave me a vegetarian breakfast to die for and made me feel like l was a member of the family.........to be honest, who wouldn't want to be a part of (baby) Cleo's family ??? I cannot wait to stay in Carbis Bay again. Paul, you are enthusiastic, passionate about what you do and a damn good Chef !! What a wonderful team you, Deborah and Cleo (who are both adorable too) are. Thank you. With love and very best wishes, Chris Henley (Rev)

Tips:

Take Paul's advice !! Make sure you visit the St Ives Museum, Porthminster Kithchen is a must but there is a 6 month waiting list for dinner up to October. At lunchtime it is still possible to get a Terrace seat but you must book. Porthwidden Beach is delightful but again, you must book months in advance as its on the beach. In Carbis Bay The Gannat is good and shuts at 11-45pm (which helped me arriving so late, kitchen closes at 9pm). for quality seafood in St Ives, also checkout the SeaFood Cafe. The coastal walk from Carbis Bay to St Ives and vice versa is a must (but steep at the beginning and the end).

Great hospitality from Deborah and Paul. The cooked breakfast was great! The decor throughout the Oystercatcher was lovey. We loved the sea views from the room. The location was great for Carbis Bay.

Tips:

The Carbis Bay Spa is indulgent and a great treat. The service there is fantastic. The Gannet just a few doors up from the Oystercatcher does a great Sunday roast. Carbis Bay beach is lovely and well worth a trip. We walked the coastal path from there into St Ives. It's a nice walk with great views. Porthgwidden Beach is beautiful and well worth a visit. Just ask. Paul and Debra were so helpful. We had some lovely days out on their recommendation. Carbis Bay, across the road is beautiful. The train station is halfway down the road and there is a car park at there, and one at the bottom of the Hill where the beach is. Theres a cafe Resaurant on the beach. We paid £10.00 a day next to the beach or five-pound half way up the steep hill to the beech. Its worth it.

Paul and Deborah are perfect hosts. Warm and welcoming . They maintain high standards in all areas. The Oystercatcher is newly refurbished , light modern, airy and spotlessly clean. Paul is an excellent cook and his wonderful breakfasts really set us up for the day. We slept well on a very comfy bed , even had blackout blinds , so no light to disturb our sleep either. Really, everything has been well thought out to ensure all guests have a very happy and enjoyable stay . Thanks Paul and Deborah!

Tips:

Excellent location. Walking distance to the Blue Flag Carbis Bay beach, which has a lovely large restaraunt which we ate at twice and were very impressed with everything. Beck's fish restaraunt is short walk away, fantastic quality food and lovely staff. Badger at Lelant a thirty minute walk away and good food too. We walked to St. Ives and ate at The Sloop. Very high standard B&B - master bedroom was absolutely lovely with amazing sea view. Breakfast was superb and beautifully prepared and presented by very welcoming hosts. Thoroughly recommend it.

Tips:

Carbis Bay has a lovely beach. Fairly long walk into St Ives but you can go by train or bus very cheaply.
